Volunteers are needed for the 11th running of the Akron Marathon on
Saturday, September 28, 2013. Each year since 2003 the Akron Marathon has
hosted an international, world-class marathon, half marathon and team relay
race the last Saturday in September. We have made it our mission to
promote health and fitness and bring national attention to the greater Akron
area. Volunteers are essential to the success of our event and are vital
in providing a safe, organized and fun race. As volunteers for the Akron
Marathon, you will have the opportunity to make a significant
contribution to your community, to meet new people and to share your skills and
talents. The truth is that it’s the volunteers who make the race such a
wonderful experience for the runners!
We are
looking for groups, as well as individuals, to volunteer on either Friday,
September 27, 2013 at the Health & Fitness Expo, or on race day, Saturday,
September 28, 2013. Opportunities to volunteer on race day include:
course support, finish line and Kids Fun Run. We will also need three to
four groups to direct runners along key points of our course. If your
group is interested in working together at these key points, please contact aantonucci@akronmarathon.org.
To register to volunteer, please visit www.akronmarathon.org
and visit the Volunteer page under the Community tab. Volunteer group
leaders can also contact the marathon office at 330-434-2786.
