City Year Americorps Member
820 Prospect Avenue Cleveland, OH 44115

At City Year, we believe education has the power to help every child reach his or her potential. However, in high-poverty communities there are external factors and obstacles students are faced with every day that can interfere with their ability to both get to school and be ready and able to learn. We’re working to bridge the gap in high-poverty communities between the support that students actually need, and what their schools are designed and resourced to provide. In doing so, we’re helping to increase graduation rates across the country, and changing the lives of the students we serve.

City Year is hiring graduating seniors interested in 10 months of full-time service in low-performing schools across the country. As a City Year AmeriCorps member you will serve from the before students arrive to school until all after-school programs are finished, building relationships with students to act as a tutor, mentor, and role model.

The position is not a one time project but a full-time experience for 10 months. At the completion of the program the service members receive a $5,735 education award to use as repayment for students loans or continuing education costs. Other scholarship opportunities are available to City Year alumni. 3,000 volunteers need and corps members can apply to serve at 1 of 26 U.S locations.
