Volunteer at Color Vibe 5k on Saturday, May 24

This year, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is the charity partner of the Color Vibe Run in Akron. They are in need of volunteers to help at a water station during the race.

Saturday, May 24 from 8:30-11:00am, 10 volunteers are needed at Lock 3 Park to assist with a water station. 

Color Vibe is proud to help the local community, not only by bringing a ton of colorful happiness to your town, but also helping out your local charity.
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is a non-profit organization with a mission to Feed People and Fight Hunger. This year, 1 in 7 people in Northeast Ohio will face hunger, and the Foodbank will be there to help. The Foodbank is the source of emergency food for 500 food pantries, hot meal sites shelters and other hunger-relief programs that directly serve individuals and families in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties. The Foodbank, with its supporters and partners are leading the fight to end hunger in the communities they serve. In 2013, they distributed 24 million pounds of food, providing 20 million meals locally for people in need.

Volunteer needs for Girl Scouts program for 6 weeks

The Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio - Akron Area are looking for 3 volunteers to facilitate The Summer Sampler Series Program at Akron Urban League for 6 weeks with weekly sessions lasting approximately 1-1.5 hours in length. Program starts June 5. The purpose of this program is to get girls excited about the world around them and Girl Scouting. In this program, we have included supply lists, programming materials and lesson plans. These activities are to be used if your Girl Scouts have completed all other activities in a specific lesson, with time to spare.

Life is Good No Matter What

Life is Good No Matter What is a local cancer charity that sends northeast Ohio patients with advanced cancer on cherished experiences. On Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. they will be having a short volunteer meeting at Portage Country Club, 240 N. Portage Path, Akron, Ohio 44303 to answer any questions you may have about Life is Good No Matter What and to discuss upcoming opportunities for our volunteers. They have a crossfit event, the Holly Run 5k, Inspire Gala, Akron Rubber Ducks Family Day and other events in which they really need your help! Please follow them on Facebook or visit their website at www.lifeisgoodnomatterwhat.org for more information on their organization and to keep up-to-date with what is happening.

Camp Christopher Clean Up Day

Camp Christopher (a program of Catholic Charities), located in Bath, OH offers unique camping opportunities for the young and young at heart. Camp Christopher is committed to the growth and development of all children through quality programming structured around nature, community and spirit. They are in need of volunteers to assist with Clean Up Day - Saturday, May 17th - 9am to 4pm Volunteers needed to clean windows, wash cabins, pick up litter, raking the trails, readying the flower beds, working on awards & more. Lunch Provided; Volunteers under the age of 18 welcome, accompanied by an adult. No background checks/or volunteer application is needed ahead of time.

Keep Akron Beautiful Super Saturday

Keep Akron Beautiful Super Saturday, May 3, 2014, is a Thank You event at the Akron Zoo for the first 1000 people who sign up to help "Clean Up Akron" during the month of April. We are looking for volunteers to help pack and serve lunches in a food line at Komodo Kingdom from 10am to Noon (set up and serve) and to help serve and serve and clean up from Noon to 2pm. As a Volunteer thank you, you will receive a free Lunch/Breakfast (pending the shift you choose) and free admission and parking at the Zoo for the remainder of the day.

The Bridgestone Firestone Invitational

The Bridgestone Firestone Invitational runs from July 30 through August 3 and are in need of 20-25 volunteers to help staff three concession stands. There are three six and one-half hour shifts each day. The event is located at Firestone Country Club. Proceeds benefit the Edwin Shaw Rehab Challenge Golf Program. Admission to golf event is free prior or after your shift.

Marathon Charity Classic

The Prom Management Group provides staff to concession stands at the Marathon Charity Classic taking place at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, OH. They recruit nonprofits/students/churches to volunteer and then in return gives back 10% of sales on a prorated status as a thank you for making the event a success. One of their 2014 Marathon Concession events run from July 14-20 with a variety of time slots. The Master Gardeners’ Garlic Mustard Pull has changed its event date to May 3! The GOGA and Summit County Master Gardeners are trying to mitigate the problem of invasive species taking over our native habitats. Volunteers are suggested long sleeve shirts and pants and sturdy work gloves. If individuals have access to pruner or pruning saws it would be helpful but not essential. Meet at 9:30am for coffee and doughnuts and a short lecture about invasive plants. Located at Crown Point Ecology Center: 3220 Ira Road, Bath OH, 44210.
